On March 21, the Carthage Division of Arts and Humanities gathered for the second annual Divisional Honor Celebration, which recognized faculty and staff who have made significant contributions at Carthage and beyond.

Dean’s Awards

The celebration featured the awarding of five special Dean’s Awards for excellence. The recipients of these awards were nominated by the faculty of the division.

2024 DEAN’S AWARDS RECIPIENTS INCLUDE:

Excellence in Academic Advising/Mentoring

The celebration also recognized excellence in academic advising and mentoring. Candidates for this award were nominated by students from within the division. The recipient of the Divisional Award for Excellence in Academic Advising/Mentoring was Colleen Palmer, assistant professor of public relations.

Faculty Achievement Award

The top award in the division is the Faculty Achievement Award, which is nominated by the divisional faculty and selected by a vote of the divisional faculty. The recipient of the 2024 peer award recognizing excellence across teaching, service, and scholarship is Martin McClendon, professor of theatre.

Additional Recognition

The celebration also featured fun awards, including the Best Dresser Award (higher ed meets high fashion) and the Champagne Award (for the most sparkling personality). Want to hear who took home these titles for the year? Just ask someone who was there…they’ll tell you all about it!

As part of the festivities, the division faculty recognized the exceptional support of the divisional staff: Heidi Baehr, Cindy Welch, and Christie Burgess-Martino.
