Why Carthage?
“I came to Carthage wanting to pursue athletic training 和 really loved the 3+2 accelerated track. I have since changed my goal, but still love that my allied health science studies can prepare me for any work beyond Carthage.”
教师 mentors
“Teachers 和 professors want to see you succeed, but a lot of my professors here help me succeed. My anatomy professor, Professor Maggie Wentzell, holds office hours the morning before an exam 和 is running around answering last-minute questions for students, making sure we’ve correctly understood the material. I’m planning to do a semester abroad, so I’ve been meeting with a lot of others like Professor Erik Kulke 和 Student Financial Services to iron out all those details. I walk away from each of those conversations, knowing what my next step is.”
Favorite class
“One of my favorites so far is Sports 和 Recreation Management with Professor George Williams. We’re discussing lots of types 和 styles of leadership. He brings in many people from around the Kenosha-Racine area to speak with us about what kind of leaders they are 和 how sports have affected their lives. I think it’s really cool to see real-life examples of different people 和 their success within their fields. We’re also networking with these speakers for after graduation.”
Internships or campus employment
“I worked in the athletic training room as an assistant, so I was mainly responsible for prepping fields 和 courts for practices with water 和 medical kits. There’s the opportunity to shadow the ATs during games 和 meets, provide first aid services, 和 help athletes in the athletic training room.”
Favorite spot on campus
“My favorite spot is in The Tower Residence Hall. You can watch the sporting events on the field from the seventh-floor lounge, while maybe doing some work. When it’s nice out, I like to hang out behind the Tower or people-watch while I do homework in the lobby. For the Super Bowl, I’ve hooked up my projector 和 watched the game in one of the kitchens while making some pizzas 和 nachos for dinner.”
Best tip for making friends
“Truly by getting involved. I met one of my best friends during freshman orientation, another from one of my classes, 和 one who lives on the same floor. I have other friends from work 和 all the clubs I’m in.”
